Shatsky National Natural Park is located in the Volyn region, in the west of one of the largest bog-lacustrine-timber complex in Europe, the region of Polesye and was established in 1983 aiming to preserve rare natural complexes in the district of Lakes of Shatsk.

Svitiaz Lake is the largest and deepest lake of karst origin in Ukraine. Svitiaz belongs to groups of Shatsk's lakes, which are located in the Shatsky National Natural Park.
