In Kiev, arrived miraculous icon-the shroud of the Mother of God

Until October 30 at the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Kiev (metro station "Hippodrome") will be the miraculous icon "the Shroud of the Mother of God". It was brought from Jerusalem, Metropolitan of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevsky Alexander, with the blessing of his Beatitude Patriarch of the Holy city and all Palestine Theophilos III.

In 2012 the icon was brought to Kiev at the request of his Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir.

 

 

 

Installing the wonder-working icon, Vladyka Alexander expressed hope that it "today again will protect the Ukrainian people and distract him from all the arrows of enemies visible and invisible".

Creating an icon is referred to the years 1830-1840. The shroud is a cut-out image of the Mother of God. Icon on both sides has a salary. The crown is decorated with stone, and Reese - the gift of the Countess of Anna Alekseevny Orlovoj-Chesmensky.

In Jerusalem the icon is stored in the yard of Gethsemane monastery, the so-called little Gethsemane, located opposite the entrance to the Holy sepulcher. In this small Church it is on the right side near the altar. Make the Shrine for public viewing only once a year - on the feast of the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary, after which for nine days the icon of the shroud is located on the tomb of the blessed virgin Mary in Gethsemane.

 

While the icons of the Transfiguration Cathedral will be open daily from 7:30 to 20:00. Every day at 9:00 am will be divine Liturgy, 13:00 - akathist, 17:00 - evening with the akathist.
