In the capital opened a monument to Dante

In Kiev opened the monument to the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri.

“ The name is Dante, my country links the spread of their language and the continuity of Italian literature over the years. The figure of Dante is known far outside Italy. He distinguished himself on the Ukrainian land, so rich in writers and poets. Many of them are from Gogol, Shevchenko, Franko to Lesya Ukrainka, Bulgakov, Akhmatova – drew from the works of Dante”, – said Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italian Republic to Ukraine Fabrizio Romano, the press service of Kyiv mayor.

 

The Ambassador also read out a greeting from the mayor of Florence – the hometown of Dante.

 

Sculpture of Dante Alighieri was opened in honor of 750 anniversary of the world famous Italian poet and activist. The monument, made of white marble, situated in the Park “Vladimir hill”, near the Ukrainian house. The project author is the sculptor Luciano Massari (Italy). The Architect Is Leonid Maly (Ukraine).

 

In addition, on the occasion of the 750 anniversary since the birth of Dante, Ukrainian scientists Andrushivka astronomical Observatory was awarded they had discovered a small planet the official name of “SocietàDante” (“the Dante Society”) in honor of the Society Dante Alighieri. Appropriate evidence the scientists presented the Ambassador of Italy at the opening ceremony of the monument to the poet.
