Residents of the Crimea regard to possible restrictions on issuing Schengen visas as a violation of basic rights, said to "Interfax" on Wednesday, first Deputy Prime Minister of Republic Rustam Temirgaliev.

"Crimeans are of this (possible restrictions on the issuance of Schengen visas to some countries in the EU - Interfax) is very negative. We believe that this is a violation of our rights. We decided to self-determination, and why we thus limit the right to freedom of movement, while the Kosovo people got the right to move freely throughout Europe," the Deputy said.

According to him, the Crimean authorities do not intend to respond to this kind of initiatives of some European countries.

The theme of Schengen visas for residents of the Crimea last week touched the RF foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. In a televised interview on March 30 he said that Moscow has not officially reported that the EU intends to issue Schengen visas to inhabitants only through Kiev.

"No decision has been taken, as far as I know. But these talks are already underway, and in a very peculiar manner. Declares that it is necessary to introduce rules according to which any citizen of the Crimea if he wants to get a Schengen visa, you will have to travel to Ukraine, to go in foreign consular institution and to receive it only with a Ukrainian passport," said Lavrov.

"If the EU would go to such steps, I am convinced that we will respond to the EU recognized the unacceptability of gross violation of human rights", - Lavrov said.
