Foreigners who entered the Crimea without visas may stay there for 90 days

Third country nationals who have entered the territory of the Crimea to 18 March, may reside in the Republic of up to 90 days without obtaining Russian visas in case of exceeding this period, they should apply for a transit visa, told RIA Novosti in the consular Department of the MFA of the Russian Federation.

"Foreign citizens arriving to the territory of the Crimea to 18 March 2014 for up to 90 days in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine (visa or without them), may be there within the allowed period of stay and travel in Ukraine or to third countries without obtaining Russian visas," said the Department.

It is stressed that in case of exceeding the specified deadline (90 days) or, if necessary transit through the territory of other subjects of the Russian Federation of foreign citizens "shall apply to the foreign Ministry representative of Russia in the Crimea or in consular offices at the airports of the Moscow air zone or at Pulkovo airport for a transit visa".

All, according to the Department, in less than a month has passed after the occurrence of the Republic of Crimea in structure of the Russian Federation, foreign consular offices with requests for obtaining a Russian visa to visit the Peninsula on a business or private purpose turned over 50 foreign citizens. "Working on the ordering of the list of Russian travel companies operating on the Crimean direction and having the right to obtain confirmation of the reception of foreign tourists", - said the Agency.

In Crimea on March 16 was held the referendum on the status of autonomy, more than 96% of the participants voted for the occurrence of the region into Russia, and on March 18 was signed relevant agreement. The state Duma and the Federation Council approved the agreement on joining of Crimea to Russia, and the Federal constitutional law on education in the Russian Federation two new agents - Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin has signed both documents.
