National Park “Skolevskie Beskids” was founded by the decree of the President of Ukraine on 11 February, 1999 on the basis of Skolevskiy closed wood of national importance and spreads over 35,261 hectares of traditional place of public resort - Skhidnytsya, Skole, Slavske- rich of mineral water. About 50 health resorts, guest houses, recreation centers and tourist camps accommodate holidaymakers. The national park includes mountains, rivers and famous Uritskie cliffs and waterfall Gurkalo. Rich and diverse species composition of flora and fauna in the Skolevskie Beskids. One can meet such rear Ukrainian animals as bear, lynx and otter. In the Soviet times a few bison were brought here from Belovezhskaya Pushcha, which get acclimated and sire. Beech and fir pure and mixed forests dominate in the natural park.
