Svitiaz Lake is the largest and deepest lake of karst origin in Ukraine. Svitiaz belongs to groups of Shatsk's lakes, which are located in the Shatsky National Natural Park. The lake occupies an area of 25.2 sq. km .The length of the lake is 9.3 km. The biggest width is 8 km. The maximum depth is 58.4 m. Volume of the lake is approximately 180 million km³. There is an island in the middle of the “main Shatsk's lake”. Its area is about of 7 hectares. The island is overgrown with trees and is mysterious by its exotic character. Old-timers say that there is a path that leads from the banks to the island through the water ... The water is clean and pure. It is jokingly called Ukrainian Baikal by natives. The Lake’s shore is a wonderful destination for family vacation.
