A bit of history
The tradition of celebrating the Beaujolais originated in the XIX century from the husbandmen of the Beaujolais region of France. Their wines are matured before all, harvesting is started earlier than in other places, and fermentation of wine was held during its transportation by barge on the river Saone or bogies in a suburb of Lyon. Thanks to the short-maturing term Beaujolais, it preserves lightness and smell that is different each year, depending on the crop and the weather conditions.
In the old days, the feast of The wine flowed like a river - it was filled in special bottles, which are called "pot". Until 1846 it had bottles of 1 liter, they were called "Lyon bottle" (Pot Lyonnais) or "Urban bottle" (Pot de ville), and when its amount was reduced to the current traditional 46 cl - this led to a revolution and local quarterly выпивох, who considered themselves to be deceived.
Bottle 46 Cl exhibited at the bar counter and buyers paid per meter (!), measuring the length of a number of empty. In meter numbered 12 bottles, and the thirteenth usually offered for free «on the house. It was then that the expression "boyau rouge", that is, "be a good выпивохой".
Transcarpathian wine-makers the tradition of the holiday of young wine adopted from France. Holiday "Transcarpathian Beaujolais" already became traditional in Transcarpathia.
