Beskid tunnel

The builders of the new railway Beskid tunnel on the border of Lviv and Transcarpathian regions broke the mark of one kilometer, according to the Lviv regional state administration.

"On the border of Lviv and Transcarpathian regions on the stretch of Beskydy-Skotarskoe work continues on the construction of a new double track railway Beskid tunnel. The builders have already crossed the mark of one kilometer. More than half of the length of the tunnel, which will connect Transcarpathia with the Region", - said in the message.

The length of the new tunnel will be 1,765 km, width - 10.5 meters, the height is 8.5 metres. Built it at a distance of 30 meters from the existing. Engineering construction will be laid at a depth of 180 feet from the surface of the Beskydy mountain range of the Carpathian mountains.

The new tunnel will be equipped with modern appliances operating and emergency lighting, ventilation, monitoring, control sensors determine the level of harmful gases, as well as constant monitoring of the internal state, by means of fire safety and system corrosion protection.

 

As reported, the European investment Bank has provided Ukraine with a loan in the amount of 55 million euros for the construction of the Beskydy railway tunnel in the Carpathians.
