Stolen from Dutch Museum paintings found in Eastern Ukraine

A collection of paintings of the XVII century, stolen from a Dutch Museum 10 years ago, found in the East of Ukraine on the territory controlled by fighters

Representatives from the Westfries Museum in the Dutch city of Hoorn, state that the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kiev came two men and offered to sell 24 picture. The men said they found the collection in the house in the East of Ukraine and asked for €5 million– half of its value at the time of the abduction in 2005.
 
At the same time, the expert, who was hired as a mediator, estimates the cost of the collection to a maximum of €500 thousand Euro, arguing the current poor state of paintings.
 
Museum Director ed GN warned that work can sell on the black market after they failed to return to the Museum.
 
 
In a statement, the Museum assumes that the case brought "the Ukrainian criminals who have contacts at the highest political level". The Ukrainian government statement did not comment on
 
 
Earlier it was reported that the paintings that were stolen in 2005 from the westfries Museum in Hoorn (the Netherlands), are currently in the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces.
