Long way of Ukraine to a visa-free regime with the EU

Made the penultimate step towards the abolition of visas for Ukrainian citizens entering the EU. All member States of the European Union, approved the innovation. The last word - for the European Parliament.

All 28 countries of the European Union supported the proposal to give Ukrainian citizens the opportunity for 90 days to enter the EU without visas. Ambassadors of member States of the European Union today, Thursday March 2, endorsed the informal agreement on the liberalization of the visa regime with Ukraine, which was achieved on 28 February the European Parliament and the EU Council. Now this innovation will be put to a vote in the European Parliament, and then referred to the European Council for adoption of the relevant law.

On 28 February as a result of negotiations between representatives of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union, an agreement was reached on the conditions of the visa-free regime for citizens of Ukraine. The Ukrainians will have the opportunity to "enter the EU for 90 days in each 180-day period with business and tourist purposes, as well as in family matters". For entry into the EU to citizens of Ukraine will be required to have biometric passports.
The day before, on 27 February, the EU Council approved a new mechanism for suspension of visa-free regime, the former one of the conditions for adoption, and approved the regulation on the liberalization of the visa regime with Georgia.
Ukrainians can enter without a visa in all EU countries, excluding Ireland and the UK. As in the case of Georgia, a visa-free regime does not give the citizens of Ukraine the right to employment in the EU. If after the introduction of a visa-free regime will be recorded a sharp increase of illegal migration, it can be quickly suspended. Visa-free regime between the EU and Ukraine will enter into force 20 days after its publication in the Official journal of the EU.
