Monument Highness Prince, Mikhail Semenovich Vorontsov (1782-1856) - a prominent state and political figure of Imperial Russia was established in Odessa after his death at the expense of donations by various segments of the population of the city of Odessa and throughout Russia including the Emperor Alexander II.
In 1908-1909 on the occasion of 200 years of the Battle of Poltava there was built Belaya Besedka. It is an original monument – eight columns, erected in the form of semi-circumference, support the laced coronal looking like horseshoe at the top.
The city of Poltava is favourably endowed with the samples of architecture and monuments. The majority of monuments are connected with the victory of Russian army over the Swedes. The main area of unique interest of Poltava and Central Square of the city is the Monument of Glory.
